Espresso (formerly MaxPak) Competent Mammalian Cells are specially prepared to offer significantly increased protein expression yield for a given cell culture vessel. Because MaxPAK Competent Cells can be plated at a much higher cell density (4x) than is possible for traditional passaged cells, up to 4 fold protein yield enhancement can be achieved. This makes MaxPAK Cells ideal for both protein production and high-throughput testing of expression constructs. Although Espresso Cells appear smaller and rounder when compared to regular cells, they are not genetically modified. They can be propagated and passaged just like regular cells and exhibit the same morphology as their passaged counterparts after only 24 hours of incubation.
